6 Modules

The modules are built around key aspects for your goalkeepers progression. The modules are broken down into a number of sections. The first section looks at the theory behind that aspect. The second section looks at real game footage bringing the theoretical into life. The third section explores different activities that will boost your goalkeepers performance in that key area. Each module incorporates coaching tasks, Q&A, feedback forums for interactive learning, and offers downloadable & printable resources.

Module 1: Physical

Module 1 highlights the goalkeeper's physical traits, with a specific focus on the Athletic Base Position. This module is tailored to aid you in assessing your goalkeeper's physical attributes, incorporating core and footwork activities. Our end of module exercises aim to improve essential elements like speed, reactions, agility, reflexes, establishing a strong foundation for overall enhancement in your goalkeeper's capabilities.

 Module 2: Technical

In Module 2, we delve into the technical aspects crucial for goalkeeper success. We begin by stressing the significance of proper goalkeeper equipment and refining the first touch – ensuring it is quick, smooth, and reliable. The module then shifts its focus to the strategic elements of positioning and angles, sculpting the goalkeeper into a formidable presence within the goal square.

Module 3: Shot Stopping

In Module 3, our focus sharpens on shot stopping, honing the goalkeeper's skills in saves. This entails refining reactions, mastering diving techniques, excelling in both high and low blocking, and enhancing decision-making when confronted with 1 vs. 1 scenarios. By addressing these key elements, we aim to elevate the goalkeeper's shot-stopping abilities to a higher level of precision and effectiveness.

Module 4: Goalkeeper's Two Main Roles

Module 4 centers around a goalkeeper's core responsibilities: controlling the square through adept catching or batting and mastering communication, both verbal and non-verbal. Often overlooked, the module sheds light on the crucial trait of a goalkeeper—using commands to assert control over the pitch. By honing these skills, the goalkeeper becomes a commanding presence, influencing the game strategically beyond physical prowess.

Module 5: Psychological Aspects

Module 5 shifts focus to the psychological aspects, emphasizing the development of a robust positive mindset for our goalkeepers. This includes assessing individual traits and strategies to construct a more formidable player between the posts. Additionally, the module addresses the importance of controlling the controllables and emphasizes the significance of a comprehensive warm-up routine to ensure our goalkeepers are match-ready.

Module 6: Puckouts

In Module 6, the spotlight is on "Puck Outs," integrating tactical, team play, and playing stats elements for our goalkeepers. We begin by understanding the significance of utilising our GK as a 7th defender to trigger swift counterattacks. Shifting gears, we delve into puck outs—covering techniques, potential pitfalls, planning strategies for your team, and assessing outcomes. Recognising the pivotal role of goalkeeper puck outs in the modern game, this module guides you in analysing and developing plans to maximize their effectiveness.
